PAWS Reading Program

Due to the overwhelming response, the PAWS Reading Program is currently full for 2024! Stay tuned for future dates.

This program is an opportunity for children, aged 6-10, to come to PAWS and read to cats. Reading to cats serves to socialize the cats and provide a non-threatening reading environment for kids to develop their literary skills.

In between when the children will be reading to the cats, each session will start with the children learning more about PAWS and the cats they can help and end with the children recapping the hour (books they read/cats they interacted with) – with prizes awarded later in the summer for participation!

Register for one of the two available sessions, which will run from April to August, by  emailing education@centrecountypaws.org. Registration opens March 15 and is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Session 1 - Second Thursday of the month from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Session 2 - Fourth Monday of the month from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Younger/older siblings are welcome to spend the hour in the PAWS lobby or other designated spaces with their parents, but we ask that only one parent accompanies the child(ren) registered for the program as they are reading to the cats due to space limitations.
