Brief description of what you do at PAWS

I help oversee the medical care of the animals at PAWS. One of the main tasks I do for PAWS is scheduling animals their vet appointments. Much of my time revolves around coordinating with fosters for surgeries or working with our veterinarian to have our animals evaluated. I assist our doctor with most of the surgeries we perform at PAWS.

Time at PAWS

I've been with paws for just over 10 years

What do you like to do in your spare time?
A large part of my spare time is dedicated to training in powerlifting. I really enjoy lifting weights in general, but I train to compete and hope to one day compete on a national level.

If you were stuck on a desert island, what 3 things would you bring with you?
I've watched the TV show Alone so many times, I think 3 items aren't enough. If I had to pick 3, it would probably be a multi tool, some paracord, and a tarp. I'm not sure I'd survive.

What is something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I occasionally enjoy baking. I have been trying to learn how to bake macarons at the moment.

What’s your favorite food?
My favorite food is sushi. I once ate 75 pieces of sushi at an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant.

What kind of music do you listen to?
I'm partial to early 2000's rap/hip hop, but I will listen to just about anything except for country music.

What advice would you give to people interested in working or volunteering for PAWS?
The longer you work or volunteer at PAWS for, the more you will understand how easy it is to want to take an animal home. It can be really hard to not want to take one home with you. Sometimes it's that certain animal or situation that pulls at you.

What is one of your favorite things to do within your role at PAWS?
From an education perspective, I really enjoy talking to people from the public about what we do at PAWS. I always like the challenge of figuring out how I can help someone.

What would you do if you weren’t doing this?
I think I would probably be involved in athletics such as football. I also have always wanted to learn how to work on cars, so maybe in another life I would be a mechanic.

Anything else fun or interesting people might be interested in learning about you?
I enjoy fishing in my free time and I also enjoy hiking. I like exploring for new places to hike or fish, so sometimes both of these activities intertwine.
