Katrina, in 2005, was one of the five deadliest storms in American history. Thousands of families lost beloved pets and countless cats and dogs were
left homeless and terrified. With southern shelters overwhelmed, rescues across the nation tried to help. One rescuer saved dozens of pets, and brought
them with her to Central PA. Now, these cats and dogs need saved again.
The Katrina survivors at Centre County PAWS were almost all rescued in 2005 as kittens or puppies. For the ones rescued as adults in 2005, PAWS is working with
a Katrina Reunion volunteer to see whether any of them may have been owned and if their owners can be found.
