In order to apply to adopt a PAWS cat or dog, please come to PAWS when we are open and complete an application form. If the animal you are interested in isn't there, we will set up a meeting once you are approved.
Many PAWS cats and dogs are in foster homes, and others live in-residence at the PAWS Adoption and Education Center. Most cats in foster homes are brought into PAWS each weekend. Dogs in foster homes are shown at the PAWS Center from Noon to 2:00 pm every Sunday. If you are interested in a specific animal, you can call us (814-237-8722) before you come to PAWS to make sure the animal is there.
We require meeting all applicants in person and going over your completed application form with you in person. Please allow about a week for us to process your application. Like most other non-euthanasia shelters, we ask personal questions as part of the application process. Sometimes we do a home visit in order to better evaluate an application. We do not do same-day adoptions.
