Cin Cin - UPDATE!

Hello! My name is Cin Cin. I am a 6-year-old neutered Pit Bull/Boxer mix who weighs 63 pounds. I tend to be shy when meeting new people, but I warm up pretty quickly. I am good with older children, other dogs, and even cats! I am a very smart boy; I already know commands for "sit" and "shake". I am also both house broken and crate trained. I have been doing very well in my foster home. I enjoy getting lots of attention and playing with my two canine foster brothers! Since I am living in a foster home, I can be seen at PAWS during the Sunday showings from 12pm to 2pm.

Highway - UPDATE!

Hi! My name is Highway and I am a 3-year-old neutered Australian Cattle Dog who weighs 25 pounds. I came to Centre County PAWS from the Huntingdon Humane Soceity. However, I was originally found as a stray. I am good with older children and some other dogs. I tend to play rough with and herd other dogs, which is typical of my breed. Because of this herding instinct, I will need an owner who will take me on walks and play with me! I would actually LOVE being an agility/fly ball/rally dog! At this point, it is unknown whether I would be good with cats or not. I am mostly house broken and I am currently working on crate training. I have been working very hard with my pet partner and have been learning a lot since I am very treat motivated. I love playing fetch and tug-o-war, but I also love being cuddled! I am living at the shelter, so I can be seen any time that PAWS is open!

Pansie - UPDATE!

Hi! My name is Pansie and I am a sweet and energetic 2-year-old spayed Lab/Shar Pei mix who weighs 52 pounds. I absolutely LOVE all people! I am good with children and other dogs, but I am not very good with cats because I tend to chase them too much. I am house broken, but I am not crate trained, so I am looking for a family who will be willing to help me learn these skills. I don't like to be left alone, so I tend to bark to express my concerns. Therefore, I will need a family who will help me work on this. In my previous home, I was known as an escape artist, so I will need a family who will work with me on this as well. I am the mom to a litter of puppies recently up for adoption through PAWS. Congenital laryngeal problems run in my family, so I'm very happy to be spayed now....no more puppies who may have breathing problems will come from me! You should know, though, that I've never shown any of the symptoms my family members have had. I am living in a foster home, so I can be seen at PAWS during the Sunday showings from 12pm to 2pm.

Diva - UPDATE!

Hi! My name is Diva and I am a lovable 8-year-old spayed Boxer who weighs 60 pounds. I came to PAWS from the Huntingdon County Humane Society. I am a very sweet girl and absolutely LOVE to give hugs and kisses! I am great with older children, other dogs, and even cats! I actually have a feline sibling in my foster home. I am house broken, and although I may not be crate trained, I am very well behaved when left in the house alone. My foster family says that I am the perfect house guest. Currently, I have some skin issues, which I am being given special medicated baths for. Recently, I had a mass cell tumor removed from my front leg, which may or may not come back. I am prone to mass cell tumors, so I may need to have them removed in the future as well. I am living in a foster home, so if I sound like the right dog for you, please visit me at PAWS during the Sunday showings from 12pm to 2pm.

Jenny

Hello! My name is Jenny and I am a 1.5-year-old spayed Boxer/Ridgeback mix who weighs 50 pounds. I have completed lots of training and know several commands. I am also both house broken and crate trained. I would really like to be placed in a household where I am the only pet. I am not very good with strangers because I tend to become protective of my owners. Because of this, I will only be placed in a home without children. I need a family who has had lots of dog experience to help me overcome my over-protective behavior. I am proud to say that I have already started training through the PAWS Pet Partner Program. I am living at the center, so I can be seen any time that PAWS is open.

Roscoe

Hey there! My name is Roscoe. I am a sweet 6-year-old neutered Hound mix who weighs 45 pounds. I came to Centre County PAWS from the Central PA Humane Society. I am good with older children, other dogs, and even cats! I love to lay out in the sun and take in all of the sights and sounds. I also love to play with toys, especially my favorite rope-knot toy! I am both house broken and crate trained! I have even learned how to "ask" to go outside! I am very cooperative for baths and nail trimmings. I still pull on my leash a little bit, so I walk better with a harness. When I first came to PAWS, I was startled by loud noises, but my foster family helped me get used to normal loud household noises like pans dropping. I am a very good watch dog because I bark when strangers come to the house; however, I greet them very kindly and excitedly when they enter! In my foster home, I am living with older children and other dogs and I am absolutely loving it! I still have a little bit of separation anxiety, but it is not noticeable when other dogs are around. Therefore, I would probably do best in a home with other dogs. Since I am living in a foster home, I can be seen at PAWS during the Sunday showings from 12pm to 2pm.

Daisy Belle

Daisy Belle is a spayed 10-month-old shar pei/lab/shepherd mix who is ready to learn all she needs to become a good companion and member of the family. Daisy Belle is housebroken and likes the other dogs in her foster home and at Sporty Dog Day Care. She rides well in a car but could use some overall obedience training. Like most pups her age, Daisy Belle is very active and benefits from lots of exercise daily. Potential adopters should be aware that 3 of her littermates have had congenital laryngeal problems which our adoption counselors can talk to you about. She is living in a foster home and can be seen on Sundays from noon to 2 pm.

Cake

Hi there! My name is Cake and I am a big, 2-year-old neutered Lab mix who weighs about 65 pounds. I came to Centre County PAWS from the Huntingdon Humane Society. I am good with children, other dogs, and cats! In fact, I would love a home where I would have another large dog to play with! I tend to chase after cats, but I don't want to hurt them. I am house broken; however, it is unknown whether I am crate trained or not because I was living in a spare room when I was with my foster. I walk nicely on the leash, unless I catch a good scent to follow. I am living at the center, so I can be seen any time that PAWS is open!

Oliver

Hello! My name is Oliver and I am a 3.5-year-old neutered Chihuahua/Dachshund mix who weighs 14 pounds. I am good with children and some other dogs; however, I am not very good with cats because I tend to chase after them. I am a friendly little guy, but sometimes I need a little time to warm up to people. Once I do warm up to people, I absolutely LOVE to get attention. I also love to play outside! I am housebroken, but I still need some work on marking. I still need to learn the basics of crate training. I am living at the center, so I can be seen any time that PAWS is open!

Marco

Hi there! My name is Marco and I am a sweet 6-year-old neutered Cairn Terrier/Pomeranian mix who weighs 14 pounds. I came to PAWS with my brother Dixon, and I would prefer to find a home with him; however, we can be adopted out separately. I am more dominant than my brother, but I am still a dear. I am good with older children and other dogs. I like to chase cats, but I may be good with a cat as long as the cat is "dog-savvy". I like to be brushed and cuddled; however, I don't really like having my nails clipped. I am both house broken and crate trained. However, I need some help with marking. I am living at the center, so I can be seen any time that PAWS is open!

Hello there! My name is Jack and I am a sweet 2-year-old neutered Beagle mix who weighs 56 pounds. I am VERY scared in the kennel, so I may appear very shy when I am seen. Although, I am a very friendly boy! I love being around children, other dogs, and even cats! Like other dogs, I need to learn the basics of house breaking and crate training. Therefore, I am looking for a family who will be willing to help me learn these skills. I am living at the center, so I can be seen any time that PAWS is open!

Miley

Hello! My name is Miley and I am a spayed 4.5-year-old Boxer/Cattledog mix. I am a very unique and beautiful girl because I have one blue eye and one brown eye. Before I was 1-year-old, I was bounced between four different homes. Because of this, I tend to be scared of strangers, which is why I might not "show" well at PAWS. However, once I know my person, I am a very sweet and loving girl! I am also very good in the home. I am good with older children and other dogs, especially bigger dogs. In fact, I am currently living with two large dogs. I am both house broken and crate trained. I am living in a foster home, so I can be seen at PAWS during the Sunday showings from 12pm to 2pm.

Treasure...500 days at PAWS Sponsored in Memory of Cody, Sadie, and Neeko

Treasure...500 days at PAWS

Update:  On May 15th, Treasure will have been at PAWS for 500 days.  Recently, Treasure thought she found her forever home and was adopted only to lose the home the next day due to a change of heart by the apartment complex.  Treasure is so sad as is the person who fell in love with her.  She slept in bed like a sweetheart and was very well behaved for her overnight stay.  She has been at PAWS for so long.

Hello! My name is Treasure and I am a spayed Yellow Lab/Golden Retriever mix who weighs about 55 pounds. I am proud to say that I am both house broken and crate trained, using a wire crate. I can be shy at times around new people and may even bark, but when I warm up to them, I am really sweet. I can be fearful of some men. I am looking for a home with no children. Even though I like to play with other dogs, I am looking for a home where I can be the only pet. I am full of young energy, so my new owner and I will be provided with FREE training classes upon adoption. I will need a patient owner who will use positive reinforcement and kindness. I promise to pay you back with a thousand kisses! I can be a real snuggle bug. I love to lay my head in laps and cuddle when I am tired. I have already begun training through the PAWS Pet Partner Program! So far, I have been working on my leash training. My Pet Partner says that I am walking very well on the leash and am building my confidence. I am living in a foster home now so I can be seen on Sundays from 12-2pm! Click on my photo to see even more cute pictures of me!

Maggie

Hi! My name is Maggie and I am a sweet 12-year-old Shepherd mix. I am good with children, other dogs, and even cats. I am house broken and even though I am not crate trained, I am very sweet, calm, and quiet in the home. Currently, I am recovering from a yeast infection in my ears and all over my skin. The PAWS volunteers have been helping me with this by providing me with special medicated baths. This condition should not return once treated or be a chronic condition. According to my blood-work, I am a very healthy girl considering my age! Since I am on the mend, I have a blue heart next to my name. You can click on it and donate toward the cost of my veterinary care. You see, PAWS has a lot of animals like me who need extra attention. Donating toward our care is a great cause and helps PAWS keep saving more lives! I am living in a foster home and can be seen on Sundays from 12-2pm.

Murphy

Hey there! My name is Murphy. I am a 2-year-old neutered German Shepherd mix who weighs 56 pounds. I am very energetic and strong, so I will need an active family. I am very friendly with all people, but I need an adopter who will be willing to continue to work on socializing me with other dogs. Right now, I do not enjoy the company of other animals. I am both house broken and crate trained. I would be best in a home with children who are older than 5 years of age. I have begun training through the PAWS Pet Partner Program! In this program, I have been proving to be a very smart dog who thrives from learning new commands and skills. So far, I have been working on commands for "sit", "stay", "leave it", and "paw". I have also been working on my leash walking skills and now I walk like a dream with my Pet Partner, while using the Gentle Leader. After adoption, my adopter and I will receive free training thanks to the PAWS Good Dog Fund! Recently, I have been visiting local nursing homes and elementary schools to spread the importance of responsible pet ownership. I absolutely LOVE going on these visits! I am living at the center, so I can be seen anytime that PAWS is open. Click on my photo to see even more handsome pictures of me!

I am a very loving boy. I like to please my person and LOVE to be cuddled and held! Even though I may be quiet, I can also be very playful. I really enjoy playing ball! I am both house broken and crate trained. Like many other dogs, I really do not care for having my nails clipped. I am living at the center, so I can be seen any time that PAWS is open!

Nadia

Hello there! My name is Nadia. I am an 11-month-old Rottweiler mix. I came to PAWS from the Central PA Humane Society. However, I was originally found as a stray. I am a very friendly girl and am good with children, other dogs, and even cats! Even though I was found as a stray, I am house broken, crate trained, and walk wonderfully on the leash. Right now, I have non-contagious skin issues, which I am on medication for. If you're interested in helping me, you can click on the heart by my name. It is there because I'm on the mend medically and since PAWS has so many animals, it can be hard to pay for us all without extra help for the special dogs like me. If you'd like to meet me, you should know that I am living in a foster home, so I can be seen at PAWS during the Sunday showings from 12pm to 2pm.

I am good with older children and other dogs, but it is unknown whether I am good with cats or not. At this point, it is unknown whether I am house broken or crate trained. Saphire

Hi! My name is Saphire and I am an 8-year-old spayed Lab/Golden Retriever mix. I love playing ball, walking to the park, and snuggling on the couch. I am good with children and other dogs, especially bigger dogs, but I am not very good with cats. I am afraid of thunder and brooms and can be very timid around new people (especially men), so it is thought that I may have been abused in the past. As soon as I am comfortable though, I am friendly and sweet as can be! I am house broken, but not crate trained, but I can be trusted in the house alone. Even though I may be an older girl, I still play like I am a puppy! I am living with a foster, so I can be seen at PAWS from 12pm to 2pm during the Sunday showings.

Shelly

Hey there! My name is Shelly and I am a sweet 3-year-old spayed Treeing Walker Coonhound who weighs 69 pounds. I am a very friendly girl. I am good with children, other dogs, and even cats! I have also lived with horses! Even though I may be big, I like to be a lap dog. Like many other dogs, I LOVE treats, attention, and taking walks. Although, I may wander off if I am not supervised. It can sometimes take me a while to warm up to new people, but once I do, I am very sweet. I am both house broken and crate trained. Recently, I tested positive for Canine Heartworm, which I am undergoing treatment for. Because of this, I will not be available for adoption until I am all better. Heartworm is completely preventable and treatment is difficult for the dog and very costly for the owner. So, I strongly encourage you to talk to your vet about how to keep your dog healthy, happy, and heartworm free! If you would like to donate to my treatment, please click on the blue heart next to my picture. PAWS is hoping to raise $800 to cover the cost of my treatment. I am living in a foster home until I am available for adoption.

Sonny

Will you please help us find a home for Sonny? We love her dearly and want to see her in a home of her own, but she is looking for a very special, loving, dedicated owner. PAWS is offering free one-on-one behavioral training for Sonny to help her succeed in her new home. Sonny is an 8-year-old spayed Pomeranian who weighs 17 pounds. Sonny is mostly housebroken and is completely crate trained. Sonny needs to be an only pet, or needs to be adopted by someone willing to very slowly integrate her into the household with another pet. Sonny needs a quiet home without children.

When Sonny is alone with her person, she is the happiest and most easy to care for dog in the world. But, Sonny becomes protective of her handler when other people are around. This behavior is a result of years of protective guarding being positively reinforced. The same behavior probably once regarded as "cute" because she's so small, has now caused Sonny to become highly anxious and feel that she has to protect her person. It's very sad that Sonny was never given the training she deserved to make her a confident dog.  PAWS has been working with Sonny under the instruction of local behaviorist, Megan Maxwell, and using a Thundershirt during her training. She has been responding very well and has lots of love to give to anyone willing to give her a chance. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Sonny, please contact PAWS at dogs@centrecountypaws.org about the application process.

Ghost - ADOPTION PENDING

Ghost is a 9-month-old neutered Great Dane/lab mix puppy who already weighs 90 pounds. Despite his size, he is a gentle giant like most Great Danes, and he seems to be past most of his puppy adolescent behavior. Ghost is housebroken and rides great in a car. He walks well on a leash and is wonderful off-leash as well. He will require a skilled owner to help him overcome his fear of new people, particularly men. Socialization should help with this, but he needs only gentle, positive training since GDs are such a sensitive breed. Ghost gets along well with other dogs (he goes to Sporty Dog Day Care, where he plays well with the other dogs), with cats, and even with chickens. He doesn't like to be left alone, so a home with someone around a lot or with another dog would be best. Ghost is living in a foster home, so he can be seen Sundays from noon to 2:00 pm.
