Aspen is a 6 year old spayed Akita who weighs 80 pounds.  She was given up because the other dog in the home did not get along with Aspen.  Aspen only likes larger dogs; preferably male.  She can be protective of her bones so she should be in a home with older or no children.  Aspen is house and crate trained and is lving at the center.

Chelsea is a little doll babe!  She is 10 years old and blind but gets around quite well.  She likes to play in the snow with her nose and toss some up in the air.  She weighs 25 pounds and needs a home to spend the rest of her days with love and tenderness.  Chelsea is a spayed chihuahua/terrier mix.  She has severe cataracts.  Chelsea is good with dogs and cats and would be fine with older children.  She is house trained and crate trained but needs to go outside often.  Chelsea has food aggression so she'd have to be fed separately from other pets.  Chelsea is living in a foster home and is being shown by appointment only.  Please contact PAWS if you are interested in this cutie!

Honey Bee

Honey Bee is a 7 year old German Shepherd Dog.  This poor girl was kept in an outdoor pen her whole life and was rescued.  She has a nice temperment and likes other dogs.  She will need a new owner who is willing to work with her on teaching her about being a house dog; she gets anxious inside now.  She is a large dog but is good with children, probably better with older children due to her size.  Are you the kind soul who will show this girl how life is supposed to be?  Honey Bee is living at the center.

Mary is a gorgeous 3-4 year old beagle/cattle dog mix who weighs 40 pounds. She is a great girl with a great smile! She LOVES kids and is good with other dogs. Her foster parents report that she is now house and crate trained. She loves attention and is a big cuddler and kisser and loves playing with toys – she’ll even throw them to herself! She also likes chasing her foster-brother around and loves hanging out in the snow. She is living in a foster home. Click on her picture to see another pose.

Dante is a 6 year old neutered Bishon Frise who weighs 20 pounds.  He is being given up because he does not like the new toddler in the house and would be best with an older couple as an only pet.  Dante clings to his person and would be a devoted companion.  He can be left alone without being crated.  Dante is house trained but might mark when he first visits a new place.  He is not good with cats.  Dante is living in a foster home.  Picture coming soon.

Black is so slimming and our Jessie has a sleek black coat!  Jessie is a 5 year old spayed lab boxer mix. She is housetrained and cratetained. She does not like other dogs or cats. She loves long walks and her favorite treat are ice cubes. She is living in a foster home.  Did you know that dogs with a black coat are harder to place than their flashier coated canines?  Black dogs are just as wonderful so please don't overlook them...think of how they'll stand out in the the snow!  Click on her picture to see two other poses.

Bella Baby is a 4-5 year old spayed pit bull.  Since Bella Baby has come to PAWS, we have learned that she is housebroken, cratetrained, and will need to be in a home without other dogs. Bella doesn't want to worry about sharing her people with other pets, it should be all about her!  She really wants her family to be made of adults with older or no children. Bella Baby loves being with people and loves to play and eat! She really dislikes living in a kennel at PAWS even though everyone is nice to her and gives her Kongs and treats. Meatball

Meatball is a neutered 9  month old beagle mix.  He is a very friendly and energetic dog who has even figured out how to open the push handle doors at PAWS!  He weighs 35 pounds and is living at the center.  Since he is energetic and jumps, he will be best with older children.  Meatball has lived with other dogs and is house and crate trained.  He also loves to be in your lap. Mocha

Mocha is a 5 year old spayed Pharoah Hound mix who is a rescue from Hurricane Katrina.  She weighs 55-60 pounds but could stand to lose some weight.  She is very sweet and good with older children, dogs, and cats.  Mocha is crate trained and living in a foster home. They are working with her on house training.  She is shy at the Sunday foster showings, but please come out to meet her and talk to her foster parents. She just might be the perfect dog for you!

Waldo

Waldo is a super friendly 8 year old neutered bull dog mix (possibly with German Shepherd).  He is good with children (even the 18 month old who visits his foster home) and other dogs.  He was living with another dog in his foster home and his foster mom said that he was a good boy in the house. Now, Waldo is living at the center.  Waldo loves to play with balls, ropes and Frisbees! Shivers

Shivers is a 4 year old spayed JRT/Border Collie mix.  She is one of our Hurricane Katrina rescues. Shivers is very shy with new people but an absolutely wonderful dog with her foster mom. A quiet home with older children or no children will make Shivers most comfortable and help her come out of her shell quickly. Shivers loves to follow the dogs in her foster home around, thoroughly enjoys her rawhide treats, and is a generally quiet polite little dog. Her favorite activity is definitely collecting the plush toys throughout the house. She likes to chew the tags and fur but never destroys them. She is good with dogs, though she likes to get used to the dogs on her terms, and is house and crate trained. She rides very well in the car. She is not good with cats. Shivers is living in a foster home, but does not show well at PAWS because she is so nervous. Grover is a gentle 6-7 year old neutered husky mix who has had a tough life. He surely spent most if not all of his years tied outside and now finally has a warm loving foster home while he waits for his forever home! Grover does well with other dogs but needs a home with no children.

Alex

Alex is a 5 year old neutered beagle/Doberman.  Alex was surrendered because a child in his home didn't treat him properly. He will therefore not be placed in a home with children.  He is a very sweet dog and has been to dog school. He is good with cats and other dogs, and is house trained and crate trained.   Alex has separation anxiety however, his foster dad has worked with him on his crating and his separation anxiety the problems have  not presented thanks to their consistent, positive training. Alex loves to go for walks and loves peanut butter Kongs! Alex is living in a foster home. Click on his picture to see another pose.

Rudolph

Rudolph is just a wonderful cuddlebug.  When he spends time in one of the meeting rooms at PAWS , he loves to take naps on the sofa and put his head in your lap.  He is a 2 year old pit bull who was found as a stray on someone's back porch.  He is 65 pounds of pure muscle.  He is very friendly at PAWS yet very strong!  Rudolph is ok with cats and visit the neighborhood dogs while he was running loose.  He will probably need to work on house training, but when he is left in our meet and greet room for hours, he doesn't have any accidents and does his business outside when walked.  Rudolph loves to play with toys and hang out in the PAWS kitchen.  If you're thinking you should write me off because of my breed, please take a moment to check out this link. Chief

Chief is a 2 year old Heinz 57 mix who possibly has some Rottweiler, Boxer or Chowmix.  Since Chief was a stray, he will only be placed in a home with older or no children.  He is a mellow, sweet dog who just needs a family to love him.   Chief likes female dogs but usually doesn't like male dogs.  He is totally house trained and doesn't even need to be crated when you are out.  He is living at the center. Chief loves to go on walks and enjoys the outdoors.  He loves to sleep at the foot of the bed and is a perfect gentleman.   He is affectionate and loves to snuggle. Sandy

Sandy is a precious 3-4 year old spayed pointer mix with a very sad story.  She was in a car accident with her owner who did not make it.  She needed surgery on her leg after the accident and is now using it and doing really great!    Sandy is good with older children, small dogs and she is house trained.  Sandy weighs just 40 pounds and will melt your heart.  Sandy also has a luxating patella.  The patella does not have to be fixed but it means Sandy will have to limit her running and activity.  We do have a local veternarian who generously agreed to work with Sandy's new owner to fix her patella at a greatly discounted rate.She is living at the center.  Click on her picture to see another pose.

Joey

Joey is a very loyal and loving 5 year old chocolate lab. He weighs in around 80 lbs and could probably lose a few more. Since joining his foster home, he already lost some weight due to his love for going O-U-T and on walks. He is both house/crate trained and definitely likes people more than he does other animals. He lives with another dog in his foster home and they get along great, however he takes awhile to adjust to other animals. He is not good with cats.  He can be territorial over his space and his biggest love-- a tennis ball, which he will chase and return to you for days. Due to those reasons he might be best as the only pet or with an owner that has patience to work with multiple pets together. Also, because he can be territorial, we recommend he not be around children. Joey has been a big sweetheart and his loyalty, listening skills, and loving nature are sure to make a parent proud! Luna

Our sleek black beauty Luna is a spayed 4 year old lab mix.  Her fur is very soft!  She is completely house trained and, while she is not cratetrained, she can be left alone in the house. Luna needs to be the only pet as she does not get along with other dogs or cats.  Luna's new ownder will need to complete training after adoption which has been pre-paid by a generous donor.  Please come out and meet our sweet Luna.  Luna is living in a foster home. Bronco is a lab/beagle mix who weighs about 30 pounds.  He is a real cutie pie. Bronco is housetrained and is fine being left alone in the home while his fosters are out and about.  No one can believe this guy is 9 years old.  He doesn't look it or act it.  Bronco has had a rough life and is now finally safe at PAWS. He would like to be your new shadow and keep you company! He'll need a home without dogs and cats and will only be placed in a home without children. Emme is a 2 year old spayed puggle (pug/beagle).  Emme is in a foster home and is high energy and loves to play with their dog.  Emme gets along with some dogs and not others.  She is being very submissive and a real sweetie.  Emme is house and crate trained.  Picture coming soon.

Rosie is a 4 year old lab/Bichon Frise mix (yes, that's right!).  She weighs 32 pounds and will capture your heart!  Rosie originally lived outdoors but we believe she might be house broken or nearly there based on how she is at PAWS.  She is good with children and dogs.  Rosie is living at the center.  She will need to be spayed prior to adoption. Keno - ADOPTION PENDING

Keno is a 2 year old neutered Cane Corso (Italian Mastiff).  This great guy weighs in at 100 pounds!  He is good with cats and other dogs and has lived with a small terrier.  Keno is good with children as long as they are old enough to be around such a large dog.  He is house trained and living in a foster home.  Keno is epileptic and on medication for this.  PAWS is working with a vet to get his epiliepsy under proper control.  Please consider this special needs fellow.
