Whistler - ADOPTION PENDING

Whistler is a 3 year old neutered Akita mix who is very friendly and social.  Whistler is tall as you can see in his pictures and he weighs in at 90 pounds.  He is good with other dogs, cats and even horses!  He is house and crate trained and living at the center.  Click on his picture to see another pose.  Often black dogs take longer to be adopted.  We are hoping you will see how awesome Whistler is and make his stay here at PAWS at short one.  Whistler is a proud looking dog that looks very classy!!

Meatball - APPLICATION PENDING

Meatball is a 9  month old beagle mix.  He is a very friendly and energetic dog who has even figured out how to open the push handle doors at PAWS!  He weighs 35 pounds and is living at the center.  Since he is energetic and jumps, he will be best with older children.  Meatball has lived with other dogs and is house and crate trained.  He also loves to be in your lap.

Mocha

Mocha is a 5 year old spayed Pharoah Hound mix who is a rescue from Hurricane Katrina.  She weighs 55-60 pounds but could use to lose some weight.  She is very friendly and good with older children, dogs, and cats.  Mocha is also house and crate trained and living in a foster home.

Usher, the third male in the U litter, is a beautifully marked black and tan hound mix. Very sweet and playful, he is ready to find his forever home...just in time for Valentine's Day! Usher will be up to date on his shots when he is adopted. Usher turned 8 weeks old on Jan. 31st.

Uri -APPLICATION PENDING

Uri is the other mostly black hound mix puppy, but unlike his brother Ulysses, he has more lab-like ears. He plays well with his littermates and will be up-to-date on his shots when he is adopted. He iturns 8 weeks old on January 31st.

Ursula

Ursula is one of the U litter and about as cute and sweet a puppy as you could want. Like her littermates, she is very people-oriented and playful. She will be up-to-date when she is adopted. Ursula turns 8 weeks old on Jan. 31st.

Ulysses

Ulysses is a hound mix puppy, part of the U litter, which is 8-weeks-old on January 31. He is mostly black, possibly with some lab in him, although his ears are all hound! He is playful and fun and ready for his forever home. Ulysses will be up-to-date on his shots when he is adopted.

Waldo

Waldo is a super friendly 8 year old neutered bull dog mix (possibly with German Shepherd).  He is good with children (even the 18 month old who visits his foster home) and other dogs.  He was living with another dog in his foster home and his foster mom said that he was a good boy in the house. Now, Waldo is living at the center.  Waldo loves to play with balls, ropes and Frisbees! He is an excellent ambassador for his breed.  Waldo is house trained and can be left alone in the house without any problems.   Click on his picture to see other poses.  The one of Waldo getting a bath is when we first got him and he was so skinny.

Scooter

Scooter is a 3 year old lab/Border Collie mix who weighs 63 pounds. He came in with Henry and Kevin. All are very friendly and affectionate dogs.Their owner could no longer afford them and was keeping them in an outdoor kennel. They will all need house training.  Due to their size and lack of experience with small children, we will only place them in a home iwth older kids.Scooter is living at the center and will need to be neutered prior to adoption. Shivers

Shivers is a 4 year old spayed JRT/Border Collie mix.  She is a rescue from Hurricane Katrina.  Shivers is shy and timid so a quiet house with older children or no children would be best.  She is good with dogs and is house and crate trained.  She is not good with cats.  Shivers is living in a foster home.  Click on her picture to see another pose.

Roscoe

Roscoe is a 5 year old neutered Rhodesian/chow mix mix who is 90 pounds.  He is a rescue from Hurricane Katrina.  He is a very sweet dog although he is timid and shy.  He will need someone patient and loving for him to warm up to.  He is good with older children, dogs and cats.  Roscoe is also house trained and living in a foster home. Roscoe will be first shown on 1/17 after he gets his rabies shot.

Hunter

Hunter is a gorgeous 5-month-old red tick English coonhound. He is a fun loving  guy!  He is highly energetic as befits his age and breed, but is also quite loving and willing to please. He will require extensive daily running to be happy and will repay you with devotion. If you like a true hound, the baying, long-eared and lanky kind, Hunter may be for you. Grover is a gentle 6-7 year old neutered husky mix who has had a tough life. He surely spent most if not all of his years tied outside and now finally has a warm loving foster home while he waits for his forever home! Grover does well with other dogs but needs a home with no children.

Jessie

Black is so slimming and our Jessie has a sleek black coat!  Jessie is a 5 year old spayed lab boxer mix. She is housetrained and cratetained. She likes to playfully chase cats and does not get along with other dogs. She loves long walks and her favorite treat are ice cubes. She is living in a foster home.  Did you know that dogs with a black coat are harder to place than their flashier coated canines?  Black dogs are just as wonderful so please don't overlook them...think of how they'll stand out in the the snow!  Click on her picture to see two other poses.

Alex

Alex is a 5 year old neutered beagle/Doberman.  Alex was surrendered because a child in his home didn't treat him properly. He will therefore not be placed in a home with children.  He is a very sweet dog and has been to dog school. He is good with cats and other dogs, and is house trained and crate trained.   Alex has separation anxiety however, his foster dad has worked with him on his crating and his separation anxiety the problems have  not presented themselves thanks to their consistent, positive training. Alex loves to go for walks and loves peanut butter Kongs! Alex is living in a foster home.

Brittany

Brittany is a hound mix that came in as a stray.  She is a pretty girl, friendly and strong, high energy, tan in color.   She settled in nicely in her kennel and likes her blanket and toys.  Click on a picture to see another pose. More info coming soon.

Rudolph

Rudolph is our version of the leader of Santa's sleigh.  He even has his reindeer ears on!  He is a 2 year old pit bull who is "Snow White" with a pink nose instead of red!  Rudolph was found as a stray on someone's back porch.  He is 65 pounds of pure muscle.  He is very friendly at PAWS yet very strong!  Rudolph is ok with cats and visit the neighborhood dogs while he was running loose.  He will need to work on house training.  Rudolph loves to play with toys and hang out in the PAWS kitchen.  Click on his picture to see more poses.

Streak

My name is Streak. I am a 5 year old neutered lab/pit mix.  Even though I am 5 years old I still like to act like a puppy when I am with people I love best. I am friendly with all people, and very healthy and energetic. I am fairly independent and fully house trained. My foster mom has to work 8 or 9 hours a day and I wait patiently in the house. Streak is good with children but needs to be the only dog in the home.  He is not good with cats.  Click on his picture to see another pose where I got a little tanged with some brush.

Sandy

Sandy is a precious 3-4 year old spayed pointer mix with a very sad story.  She was in a car accident with her owner who did not make it.  She needed surgery on her leg after the accident and is now using it and doing really great!    Sandy is good with older children, small dogs and she is house trained.  Sandy weighs just 40 pounds and will melt your heart.  Sandy also has a luxating patella.  The patella does not have to be fixed but it means Sandy will have to limit her running and activity.  We do have a local veternarian who generously agreed to work with Sandy's new owner to fix her patella at a greatly discounted rate.She is living at the center.  Click on her picture to see another pose.

Joey

Joey is a very loyal and loving 5 year old chocolate lab. He weighs in around 80 lbs and could probably lose a few more. Since joining his foster home, he already lost some weight due to his love for going O-U-T and on walks. He is both house/crate trained and definitely likes people more than he does other animals. He lives with another dog in his foster home and they get along great, however he takes awhile to adjust to other animals. He is not good with cats.  He can be territorial over his space and his biggest love-- a tennis ball, which he will chase and return to you for days. Due to those reasons he might be best as the only pet or with an owner that has patience to work with multiple pets together. Also, because he can be territorial, we recommend he not be around children. Joey has been a big sweetheart and his loyalty, listening skills, and loving nature are sure to make a parent proud! Buddy

Buddy is a 6-7 year old super friendly neutered yellow lab.  He is a big boy at 75 pounds and he is good with children and other dogs.  Everyone dog he meets he has liked so far.  The only no-no is cats - he needs to be in a home without them.  He was house and crate trained but may need a refresher.  Buddy is living at the center and would love to get into a home soon!  Click on his picture to see another pose.

Bella Baby

Bella Baby is a 4-5 year old spayed pit bull.  When Bella first came to PAWS, she was very thin and covered in sores that developed while living in another kennel. She's gained weight, her sores are healed, and she even had her tail amputated to relieve her of a bad infection. After all of this TLC, she is the beautiful dog we all knew she could be. Since Bella Baby has come to PAWS, we have learned that she is housebroken, cratetrained, and will need to be in a home without other dogs. Bella doesn't want to worry about sharing her people with other pets, it should be all about her!  She really wants her family to be made of adults with older or no children. Bella Baby loves being with people and loves to play and eat! She really dislikes living in a kennel at PAWS even though everyone is nice to her and gives her Kongs and treats. Bronco

Bronco is a lab/beagle mix who weighs about 30 pounds.  He is a real cutie pie.  Bronco is good with some dogs and is good with cats.  He would be best in a home with no children or older children.  Bronco is house trained and is fine being left alone in the home.  No one can believe this guy is 9 years old.  He doesn't look it or act it.  The poor guy is searching for a new home because his owner became homeless.  He would like to be your new shadow and keep you comany!  Bronco is living in a foster home.

Luna

Our sleek black beauty Luna is a spayed 4 year old lab mix.  Her fur is very soft!  She is completely house trained and, while she is not cratetrained, she can be left alone in the house. Luna needs to be the only pet as she does not get along with other dogs or cats.  Luna's new ownder will need to complete training after adoption which has been pre-paid by a generous donor.  Please come out and meet our sweet Luna.  Luna is living in a foster home. Sherlock - APPLICATION PENDING

Sherlock is a tremendously nice 6 month old Airdale mix.  The poor fellow was abandoned on someone's porch and is now looking for a forever home.  The volunteers report that he is a silly fellow who loves to play fetch.  They love his wire-y hairdo.  Currently he weighs 25 pounds but is underweight.  He is good with children and other dogs and is also mostly house trained.  He is very high energy and gets into things at this age.  He will benefit from obedience training as well as crate training.  He is living at the center and will need to be neutered prior to adoption.  Click on his picture to see another pose.

Keno - ADOPTION PENDING

Keno is a 2 year old neutered Cane Corso (Italian Mastiff).  This great guy weighs in at 100 pounds!  He is good with cats and other dogs and has lived with a small terrier.  Keno is good with children as long as they are old enough to be around such a large dog.  He is house trained and living in a foster home.  Keno is epileptic and on medication for this.  PAWS is working with a vet to get his epiliepsy under proper control.  Please consider this special needs fellow.

LuAnn - ADOPTION PENDING

LuAnn is a 6 month old beagle/Bassett Hound mix who is all puppy!  LuAnn is 20 pounds right now and good with other dogs as well as being house and crate trained.  Here is a note from her forster mom:  She is a great dog! Very sweet! So far, we have spent a lot of time playing with Lulu - she is the submissive one. Being a puppy, she is full of energy but has her very calm times. So far, no accidents in the house and she is great with children.  LuAnn will need to be spayed prior to adoption.
