- Tough times? PAWS may be able to help!
Centre County PAWS has pet food available to members of the community in need of a little help during tough times. We will provide pet food, treats too, to anyone who needs it provided we have some in stock. There is no charge and no paperwork. We often have non-clumping cat litter available too. Feel free to stop by PAWS at 1401 Trout Road, State College and ask a front desk volunteer to assist you. Another option is the Pet Pantry of Centre County (click here). PAWS will be closed on Saturday, July 4, 2009 in celebration of Independence Day. We will be open our regular hours on Sunday the 5th (11 am - 4 pm) and Monday the 6th (5:30-7 pm).

- Reduced Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic on July 18, 2009
On July 18, 2009, Centre County PAWS is sponsoring a reduced cost spay/neuter clinic at the PAWS Adoption and Education Center at 1401 Trout Road in State College. This clinic is for cats and dogs owned by Centre County residents only. The clinic is full. Information about upcoming clinics will be posted later on our website. More Information ...

PAWS gives you the opportunity to sponsor a cat or a dog in need. Through the online credit card and cash transfer capabilities of PayPal, you can sponsor one or more animals on our adoption list for a month. More Information ...
- Hours to Meet the Dogs
- Saturdays and Sundays 11-4 (all dogs who live at the center)
- Sundays 12-2pm (most dogs come who live in foster homes)
- Mondays 5:30-7pm (all dogs who live at the center)
- 1st Wednesday of month at Petco in State College (a few selected PAWS dogs)

PumiclePumicle is a 1 year old lab/beagle/terrier mix. He is good with children, dogs and cats. Pumicle is house trained and crate trained; however, he will mark occassionally but he also is not neutered yet. Once he is neutered this should help. Picture coming soon. |

GretaGreta is a large, beautiful German Shepherd. She is 5 years old, spayed and house trained. She is not good with children, dogs or cats. Greta loves to go on walks and play frisbee. She is nervous around new people and is working with a trainer. Click on her picture to see another pose. |

Short CircuitShort Circuit is a 3 year old neutered male dachshund. He is good with older children and dogs, but would prefer to be the only dog. He is house trained but needs to go out every few hours. Short Circuit will bite at your ankles if suddenly scared. Picture coming soon. |

BrandyBrandy is a 5-year-old miniature dachshund that was part of a breeding pair for years. A great mother for many litters, she's now ready to devote herself to a human family. She's an active, fun girl who gets along with the other dogs in her foster home, playing with all sizes, and likes cats once she gets to know them. She likes brisk walks, bones to chew on, tummy rubs, and a warm lap to cuddle on at the end of the day. She is housebroken and will use newspapers as a backup. Brandy will be spayed before she is adopted. |

CinciCinci is a 6 year old spayed black lab/springer spaniel mix. She came in with Roxie her pal. Cinci is good with children and other dogs and she is house and crate trained. Cinci is not good with cats. She has a lot of energy and is a happy girl. |

ShakespeareShakespeare is a 2 year old German Shepherd mix that will be available as soon as he gets his shots. Shakespeare is a very special pup that is as sweet as can be! He has a collapsed lung so when active his breathing is labored. He will need a home that will love him for his disability and not overexert him. He is good with other dogs, but has never been around cats before. Shakespeare does not like his paws played with so he'd be best with older children. He will need to work on house training in his new home. He is living at the center. |

WaldoWaldo is a super friendly 3 year old neutered pit bull mix. He is good with older children (due to his high energy level) and other dogs. Waldo is house trained. He needs to be kept on a leash or in a fenced in yard - he ended up homeless because he would dart out the door and take off. He has a great disposition and is working on gaining some weight while living at the center. Click on his picture to see another pose. |

CaptainCaptain is a happy 3.5 year old neutered beagle mix. He is good with other dogs - male moreso than female. Because we do not know about his background, he will only be placed in a home with no chldren or older children. Captain will need to work on house training and is living at the center. |

RufusRufus is a 1.5 year old JRT/Corgi mix. He is good with older children and other dogs. Rufus is also house trained. He has a tendancy to nip non aggressively and this can be addressed through proper training. Rufus is iving at the center. He has an E-collar on in the picture since he just was neutered! |

JessieJessie is a 7 year old spayed beagle. She is good with children and other dogs but not good with cats. She is house trained and crate trained; however, she is used to being left alone in house when her people are out and does just fine. Jessie is in a foster home. |

ScherzoScherzo is a neutered 8-10 month old border collie/lab mix. He is good with older children, other dogs and is also house and crate trained. He can be protective of his owners though with other dogs. The border collie part of Scherzo tends to want to "herd" children so older kids would be best. He also still puppy bites and will have to be trained not to. How do you pronounce his name? Scared-so. He is named after a musical movement! Scherzo is living at the center. Rex - please read about me!Rex is a very sweet and affectionate adult border collie mix. Poor Rex is looking for a loving person to hang out with, go on long walks with, and play with. Rex needs someone to give him lots of TLC. He has lived outside his whole life until he found a foster home. Since then we have found that he IS house trained and crate trained. He loves roaming around the house playing with toys and would love a fenced in yard. He is very active for his age, loving walks and play time. We think he'd do best with one dog his same size that would tolerate a lot of play or Rex could be the only dog. Rex would also like to thank all the kind people who donated money so that he could have his ear surgery. He is doing much better and is still working on recovering. His foster mom says that Rex is as sweet as can be and wiggles all the time. Please help Rex find his forever home! Click on his picture to see another pose. |

LadyLady is a 4 yr old retriever mix that is very sweet. She is a beautiful reddish color and is medium in size. She is very friendly. Lady is good with kids She is not good with other dogs and we don't know how she is with cats. Lady is already spayed and house trained. Lady is living in a foster home! |

FredFred is a very special gentle soul looking for a caring person to take care of him. He is a 12 year old neutered male Chow Chow who is good with other dogs and cats. Fred has some trouble getting around so he would be best with older children or no children. He has captured the hearts of all the PAWS voluteers and everyone who comes to the center. Are you that special person who can give Fred the love and special care he needs? |

JessieJessie is a 5 year old spayed lab boxer mix. She is housetrained and cratetained. She likes to playfully chase cats and does not get along with other dogs. She loves long walks and her favorite treat are ice cubes. She is living in a foster home. |

HarleyHarley is a spayed 1 year old German Shepherd/lab mix. She is house and crate trained. Harley likes other dogs but is rough in her play; she also playfully chases cats. She will need to go to a home with older children since she does like to rough house when playing. She is living at the center. |

MiloThis 2.5 year old black lab mix is a great dog! Milo is friendly with strangers. He is good with some other dogs, although he will defend himself if another dog is aggressive towards him. Milo hasn't had much contact with cats. He will chase & bark at them when he sees one. Milo is housetrained is he can get outside every 8-hours or so. Milo needs a soft chewtoy to chew on when left alone all day. He is already neutered! Milo is working with a trainer to be the best boy he can be. Milo lives at the center. |

BonesThis 2 year old male shepherd mix will steal your heart! Bones has lived with children of all ages & he is great with them. However, Bones is strong and energetic, so we'll only place him in a home without children or in a home with older, teenage children. Bones is housetrained & crate trained! He loves toys of any kind and is especially fond of his daily peanut butter Kong at PAWS. Bones would very much prefer a home without dogs as he is generally afraid of them. Cats aren't his favorite either. He would rather spend all of his time with people. Bones is looking for a person with considerable dog experience who is willing to spend time exercising him and continuing his training. Bones is neutered and ready for a new home. Come visit him at PAWS so you can see his pink nose and goofy ears in person. |

LunaLuna is a 2-3yr old lab mix. She is appears to be house trained. Luna should not be placed in a home with small children. She does not like being restrained and might snap if a child were to pull her tail or give her a bear hug. Luna should be the only pet in a home. Luna is already spayed and is living in a foster home. |

She will need to work on housebreaking and crate training seeing as she was tied outside at her previous home but seems like she'll be a quick study. She's very sweet and loving. She is the mother of the Q puppies. Alice is living in a foster home. |

Shorty loves to cuddle up with you and is very sad at the kennel not understanding why he was given up. He perks up when he is out and being loved. Shelby - ADOPTION PENDINGThis 7-month-old is the daughter of Alice and is just the greatest girl. Her foster mom nicked-named her “Sugar” for her sweet personality. She’s also very bright: Although a totally outside dog before coming to her foster home, she has had no accidents and learned to use the dog door in under an hour. She gets along wonderfully with all the other dogs in her foster home and loves her little half-sibs, the Q litter. Shelby will be spayed and up-to-date on shots before she is adopted.
