Moms need forever homes too and are usually very appreciative adoptees!

Tabitha's KittensMeet Tabitha's Kittens:
Hannah (f)-white/black; black spot on nose Rachel (f)-black/white, mostly black face Rebecca (f)-white/black, triangle on nose; long hair Delilah (f)-black/white; white on face Samson (m)-white/black; triangle on nose; short hair Tabitha's kittens are full of energy. They are working on litter training and doing very well. You may notice that Hannah is missing part of her back leg. Unfortunately, she had some complications shortly after she was born, and they were unable to save the damaged leg. However, Hannah is adapting quite nicely. She enjoys playing and running with her siblings. Please don’t overlook her because of her slight ‘limp’, because she is such a beautiful, loving kitten just like her brother and sisters. PieMale-neutered, Domestic ShorthairAge: ~2-3 years (March 2008) Front declawed Look familiar, you say? Those who check out our website on a regular basis might think of Mr. Bojangles…maybe Zack….if you go back a couple of years, Martin Luther Kat, a.k.a., Melkat! Pie is a composite of all these guys…a handsome, lovable and fun cat who is just what the doctor ordered for a lover of BIG cats. He may try to bite your fingers if you pet him too much, but he stops when you say “no” and, in his foster home, has learned he’s better off just walking away when he’s had enough. Smart fellow! Pie’s foster mom tells us: “It took a few days for Pie to warm up to me at the house, but I think that was in large part due to my having another cat. When I kept them separated at first and went in to socialize with him, he came right up to me to play. Within a few days, he was like that anywhere in the apartment. Pie is very curious, but not troublingly so. He wants to know what I'm doing in kitchen, for example, but he won't rummage through things left on the counter or stove. He likes my other cat, I think, more than she likes him right now. Whenever she's had enough with him, she lets him know vocally. He stops, then backs away. He won't confront her or intentionally antagonize her. Pie is very playful, but like my cat, he doesn't go for regular cat toys. They both prefer milk container rings! I have half a dozen or so scattered about the apartment and periodically one gets "attacked". Pie also prefers my sofa to the cat bed, but then again so does my cat.” Pie did get into a minor scuffle with two of PAWS’ other big boys, Doc and Wyatt, but we don’t know who started what. Listening to what foster mom reports, though, we think that if he goes to a home with another cat, Pie would probably do better with a self-confident female than with another male who’s too much like himself! Although we’ve never seen him around a dog, our guess is that he’d get along fine. Come meet Pie – he’s a big, friendly hunk ‘o’ love! BingoMale (neutered), Domestic ShorthairDOB: 04/01/98, front declawed Bingo feels a little unsettled when confined at the Adoption Center. He’s a very vocal fellow who loves to tell you what’s on his mind, and what he’s tellin’ us, loud and clear, is that he wants to relax in a nice quiet home he can call his own. After being uprooted from his old home, he has spent time at PAWS and at a couple of foster homes, but what he wants and desperately needs is stability. Although he is a little uneasy around strangers….making things even worse for him at the Center…..once he calms down, he likes having his head scratched and comes running in the morning for breakfast and a nice lap to sit on. He would be happiest in a loving and patient home with nice soft places for nappin’. For more photos of Bingo, including him having fun in his foster home, please click for larger image |

ShansiFemale (spayed), Domestic ShorthairDOB: 04/05/01 Shansi arrived at PAWS feeling confused about what was happening to her and looking very thin. She decided the best thing to do was to hang out under the covers! But when a volunteer would spend time with her, she couldn't resist both giving and getting affection. She still likes to hide out a bit at the Center --silly girl -- but she’s ready and anxious to find the special person who will love her forever. Have some TLC and a home to share with Shansi? From foster mom – April, 2008: Shansi is a really sweet, affectionate and friendly cat. She is very comfortable with new people and comes up to meet them right away. She likes to snuggle and have a good belly rub. She’d make a great companion for an adopter of any age or a family with children. Shansi and my cat are slowly learning to get along, as Shansi is curious but protective of her space. She would be great as the only cat in the household, but with proper introduction, care and attention, I’m sure she could adjust to living with other cats. |

Wylie
A Lonely Hearts Club Cat
Male (neutered), Domestic Shorthair
This handsome tuxedo is quite an armful, but a very lovable armful and a classic guy. Wylie is a very “comfortable” cat, not too active and not too stodgy. He loves companionship. He really watches the people around him and has a beautiful, clear green gaze from his charming little triangular face. He’s cuddly and likes to be near and touching his humans, although he isn’t what I’d call clingy either. Since he’s kind of quiet, I’d hate for someone not to notice him in the crowd, because he’s a really special kind of fellow. I think he’d easily be able to adapt to other cats in a household. Because of a previous infection, Wylie has a higher risk of developing urinary tract infections than the average cat. So his future companion will need to keep watch for any signs that he’s retaining urine (which could cause an obstruction), and feed him a prescription diet to prevent that. His current diet seems to suit him well and he likes both dry and canned food, with a slight preference for canned. Update - January 2008 Like so many cats who spend the week in foster homes, Wylie really dislikes coming to the Center and wonders why in the world he has to go through this routine every weekend. As a result, he can sometimes become a bit "snarfy" with people who are interested in him. To avoid gettin' on Wylie's nerves, foster mom advises prospective adopters not to hold him for too long -- a little is okay, but even at home, he has his limits. Wylie also doesn't like to have his fur ruffled for too long at a time. He's one of these fellows who likes attention and often seeks it out, but he'll let you know...with a swat...when he's had enough.

PollyFemale (spayed), Domestic ShorthairPolly is a beautiful cat. Her name comes from the fact that she is polydactyl. Polydactyl cats have more than the usual number of 5 toes on one or more paws. Polly's white front paws have extra toes. She seems to be very sweet. |

Doc and WyattMales (neutered), Domestic ShorthairsDOB: 04/2006 Wyatt is on the left. Doc, on the right, has more orange coloring in his coat. Doc and Wyatt are big, handsome, friendly guys.....the strong silent type. But oh my are they inquisitive! In fact, together they can be quite mischievous....as when they plotted how to open the storage cabinet in their room, hauled everything out and...of course...devoured all the goodies! Lookin' for lots of BIG fun? Doc and Wyatt are your guys! |

DebussyFemale (spayed), Domestic Longhair ~DOB: 04/15/07 From Debussy's foster mom: "Debussy is a beautiful long-haired cat, the last kitten from a litter of other little composers. Debussy is a darling cat looking for a dependable and loving owner. She composes her own music via her sing-song talking but she knows when it is bed time and is as quiet as a mouse. She will need to have her coat brushed regularly, which she *loves*. She is very good about getting her nails trimmed also. She mostly enjoys hanging out in the lower traffic areas of the house although she does enjoy bird and squirrel-watching from the windows. Right now, she is not a lap cat but perhaps with the right person she could be. Will you be the duet partner for Debussy to practice "Clair de lune" with?" SamanthaFemale (spayed), Domestic ShorthairAge: 4 years (May 2008) Front Declawed Samantha is a lovely young calico cat. This photo was taken on her very first day with us at PAWS. She was very pettable, but was still a little confused by her new surroundings. Samantha seems like a very nice cat. |

CaviarFemale-spayed, Domestic Shorthair DOB: 10/01/07 Caviar is a beautiful little tabby with gorgeous eyes. She's learning about being at the center on adoption days, but still presents herself as a scared little girl. She is on her way to being a gourmet class pet who will match her gourmet name. |

ElliotHandsome and quiet guy needs a special homeMale (neutered), Domestic Shorthair, FIV+ Age: 2-3 years old as of February 2008 Spring is here! Welcome Spring by welcoming ME into your home! My name is Elliot. I’m a handsome fellow (so they tell me) and a good guy (though I’m a bit confused and people-shy right now). And although I’m safe and warm in my foster home, I’d really like to find a caring family of my own. Life hasn’t been very good to me so far....I really can’t tell you where I came from, but I spent the better part of this nasty, bone-chilling winter out in the wind, wet and cold. I was what everyone calls a “stray”. Luckily, a young couple took me in for a little while and saw to it that I got to PAWS. But that’s only the beginning of my story. First thing PAWS did was to test me for a couple of the more common feline diseases. As fate would have it, I tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). I'm feeling great now (the ugly sore you see on my nose has healed) and chances are I'll be feelin' good for a long time to come. But to minimize risks to my health and to the health of other cats, I must be kept indoors and should not have contact with other cats unless they, too, are FIV positive. I cannot transmit the FIV virus to you or to anyone else in your family, and I cannot transmit it to a dog or to any other animal except fellow felines. Please take the time to find out more about me. I won’t give you any trouble. I ask only for your love, kindness and understanding, and I WILL come out from under the bed eventually. :) Think sunshine and flowers, think new life....a new life for Elliot! Click below for more about Elliot and FIV. |

ShamrockMale-neutered, Domestic Medium Hair~DOB: 08/07 Just take a look at my eyes and you’ll see why they call me “Shamrock”! That, and because I came to PAWS just a few days before the month of shamrocks, the wearing ‘o’ the green, green beer, and ….oh don’t worry, I don’t indulge in any of that sudsy stuff. Water…and maybe a wee bit of catnip…that's all it takes to get me feeling frisky and rarin’ to go. Why just this past weekend, I was one of the cats featured in PAWS’ Fashion for Compassion Show. Yeah, me….walkin’ down the runway, just like the models. Well, not really – one of the volunteers insisted upon carrying me, much as I’d rather have gone it alone with my tail held high. This was quite an adventure, but I was told I “done good”. And now another new experience! Today I was taken to Wiscoy and I’m not entirely sure what to expect. But the other PAWS cats and my foster mom and dad told me it’s an honor to be here. They said I’ll get lots of attention and if I’m good, I might even find a permanent home. One thing my foster parents said to be sure to tell you is that I get along very well with “Friday” and “Desi”, the resident cat and dog. We get along SO well in fact, that I went a bit nutso when I was “quarantined” for a few days after being 'neuterized' and couldn’t be with them. I’d really, REALLY like to have a buddy in my new home! Cat or dog okay. -- Shamrock – 5/6/08 Application approved |

SnuffyFemale, Domestic Shorthair~DOB: 11/23/07 Foster mom has nice things to say about this little girl already: "Good things come in small packages," and this tiny package is totally good. She's easy on the eyes, plays hard, and then curls up in your lap or your arms for a little snooze. A large measure of affection & fun in a small package! Adoption approved - Snuffy is no longer available

CreamsicleMale (neutered), Domestic ShorthairDOB: 02/23/05 You will lose your heart to Creamsicle. Adoption approved - Creamsicle is no longer available |

SadieFemale (spayed), Domestic ShorthairSadie is a friendly and sweet cat ready for her very own forever home. She loved hanging out in this red fabric cat cube at the center. She'd probably be happy relaxing anywhere. A really nice cat! ADOPTED 5/15/08 |

JillyFemale (spayed), Domestic Shorthair~DOB: 08/10/07 Jilly is a gentle and quiet girl, still a little shy and unsure about us humans. In her foster home, she is affectionate and loving, well mannered and obedient, curious and playful, but it has taken time and patience for her to adjust to a home environment. She gets along very well with other felines, in fact, so well that it may hinder her learning to trust and bond with her human family members. Jilly might do best as an only cat until she forges a solid relationship with her person(s). At that point, you could think about introducing another cat if you think a feline friend would be good company for her. But for now, Jilly is looking for a forever home that will patiently give her the time she needs to relax and enjoy being with her people. ADOPTED 5/15/08 |

Kittens and their moms are often availableKittens are cute and their moms are too, but it can be difficult to home a seemingly endless supply of homeless cats.PAWS gets many calls about momcats, some not much more than babies themselves, and their litters. Moms and kittens alike need forever homes. Please remind all your friends and neighbors to spay and neuter. It's such an important message.

Terminology in listings..."Application pending" means that an application has been submitted to adopt this cat. If you are interested in this cat, please keep checking back or fill out an application yourself since occasionally applications are withdrawn or circumstances prevent it from being finalized."Application approved" means that the application has gone through but the ownership transfer paperwork is not yet finalized. The cat is still at the Center or in a foster home until that is completed. "Adopted" means that the cat is in its new forever home!
"Adoption approved - no longer available" means that the application has gone through and the cat is living with its adoptive family, but the ownership transfer has not taken place for one of several reasons, e.g., a health problem is still being assessed and/or treated by PAWS; a vaccination provided by PAWS has not yet been given; the cat is at least 6 mo. old (7 mo. for males) and will be spayed or neutered by PAWS before the official adoption takes place. "Long-term Foster" means that the cat is living in a foster home on a continual, although sometimes temporary basis for varied reasons. The cat is not brought to the adoption center on weekends. Please consult one of the cat program coordinators for up-to-date adoptability status. |
