How about Anastasia? Anastasia is the first mom to come into PAWS this year with her litter of kittens. And a watchful, patient mom she was. Here she is seen with little Ariel. Anastasia's kittens all have been adopted, her nest is empty and now it's her turn to find a loving home of her own. |

AngelAngel's bio at the time of adoption: Female (sp), Domestic ShorthairApproximate Date of Birth 08/2003 “How gentle is the rain that falls softly on my window…..” Looking out at the rain on the morning PAWS volunteers were getting her spiffied up go to Wiscoy for the week, Angel may have been thinking, “Rain is lovely when you’re safe and warm inside, but I know what its like to be alone, very cold and very wet on days like today. I’m ready for clear skies now and I look forward to happy times in a new home. Perhaps...just perhaps...I’ll find someone this week. By the way, folks, don’t be confused about my menswear (a tuxedo they call it)…I’m definitely a momcat, having done my duty raising a family of six and leading them to the safety of a caring foster mom.” Angel found her way to Spring Valley Kennels this past summer and it was evident she was nursing a litter of kittens. But the kittens didn’t appear until about a week later when Angel finally felt she could trust the human who welcomed her into her home at the kennel. She brought 3 kittens the first day, a fourth the next day, and at last, two more. Angel’s new human friend asked her if that was all, and she said it was! The kids were probably about 4 weeks old at the time. Angel is comfortable around dogs and gets along well with other cats. She's very friendly, laid back, and just wants to be loved. She is not yet comfortable on a lap for very long, but that should come with time, patience and petting. It’s obvious that Angel had been with humans in her formative months since she comes right up to her foster mom and other humans. But it’s also obvious that she had been outdoors for awhile and is more than ready to come in out of the cold and stay there. Yes, “how gentle is the rain”….when you’re warm and dry and loved. |

Time is ticking away; she could be yours today. B.B.'s sister, Angel, was adopted almost the minute she set foot in the Center. We'd hoped to keep them together. But if you'd enjoy two cats, B.B. is now in a foster home with Lillian (see below) and the two are becoming fast friends! Both are very sweet and affectionate gals. |

BobbieBobbie's bio at the time of adoption: Female, Domestic ShorthairAge: Slightly over 1 year Bobbie communicated to her foster mom the following: I can't tell anyone what happened to me, but you can guess something very big attacked me and left me with a bum shoulder and leg and a limp. Amazingly, I'm very active in spite of it all. I love to play, sit at a window perch and eat canned cat food! I'll be a little shy at first, but continuing to play with me will bring me around to give you a very lovey, friendly, snuzzle -- that's cat talk for something snuggly and nuzzly. I'm not much on being held, but my foster mom is working on that. Get down on the floor with me and you can rub my head (oh how I love that) and cuddle with me.

CaboodleCaboodle's bio at the time of adoption: Female-spayed, Domestic ShorthairDOB: 06/22/05 Hi everyone – I’m kitten “Caboodle”. Well, I’m not really a kitten anymore, but I was one of those “kittens having kittens” just a little over six months ago when my babies Zania and Henrietta were born. Zania, by the way, is pronounced Zahn’ya…like in lasagna…according to the little girl who named her for me. :) The three of us went into a foster home when Zania and Henrietta were just one week old, and until very recently, we lived there with a 3-yr. old girl, her parents, and their two 4-yr. old cats. We got along really well with all of them. Speaking for myself, I love to snuggle with the people in my life and, having missed out on much of my own kittenhood, I still love to play. I followed my foster family around the house, especially when I wanted to be picked up and held. They tell me I have a beautiful coat – flattery will get you everywhere! – and that I’m especially gentle and loving. They’re right about that if I might say so myself. I also have quite a singing voice. Once we came to the adoption center, no one had to wonder where I was housed – I announced myself quite clearly, as I will probably do now that I’m living at Wiscoy for awhile (see below). I sang all the way over there from the center! Please stop in and talk to me. I’m spayed now – so no more babies – and I can’t wait to find a permanent home. Zania and Henrietta are still at the adoption center looking for their forever homes as well. |

ClaireClaire's bio at the time of adoption: Female (sp), Domestic Medium Hair~1.5 years old While we’re introducing PAWS stars, you must meet Claire! Claire has a plume like no other! Looks like one of those feather boas worn by the “see-and-be-seen” crowd at the Academy Awards. But what’s so truly remarkable about Claire’s boa is that she wears it flat on her back! Be sure to click for larger photo to see this phenomenon. Claire’s face, too, is unique – just slightly flattened, revealing an almost certain royal (Persian) lineage. For such a lovely and unusual girl, Claire had a mundane and actually quite scary beginning with PAWS. Very, VERY much “with kitten”, young Claire was abandoned in a laundry basket and found just in time to be taken to an animal hospital. In fact, Claire barely made it to safety before she began to deliver. Claire was an adoring, attentive mother of six and, on two separate occasions, welcomed two motherless waifs into her fold and cared for them as her own. She was extremely protective of her expanded family and, therefore, didn’t particularly enjoy the intrusion of her foster mom’s other cats. How she will do now in a home with other cats is a question mark, only because she’s still guarding over the little ones who remain. Claire is very sweet and gentle with humans, loves being around both adults and children and, of course, she has that plume to end all plumes! You must see it! |

Cleo and GabbyCleo and Gabby's bio at the time of adoption: Cleo (on left): Domestic Shorthair, Dilute Calico,Spayed Female, DOB: 09-21-04 Gabby(on right): Domestic Shorthair, Black and Grey Tabby with white Cleo and Gabby are two beautiful sisters who were dearly loved and very well cared for in their previous home. Unfortunately, their "mom" has severe allergies, and although she tried every which way to deal with this in the interest of keeping her "babies," she finally had no choice medically but to part with them. Everything about Cleo and Gabby reflects an upbringing filled with love and caring. They are sweet, low impact and very tidy. Gabby is the more outgoing of the two, Cleo a bit shyer in the strange new world of the Center. Important: Cleo and Gabby must not be declawed. They are used to wearing plastic nail covers, often called "soft paws", that are glued onto their nails about every 6 weeks. Cleo and Gabby are very closely bonded and have asked to go to the same new home together. |

ForbesForbes's bio at the time of adoption:"Pick me and you won't inherit a publishing company, a yacht or a hot air balloon, but you'll inherit my famous family name and who knows……maybe it'll bring you good fortune some day! What you WILL get with me is my chariot (the cat's equivalent to a Forbes' favorite, the Harley-D) within which I will ride without a squawk whenever you need to tote me around! "I'm a calm, affectionate and friendly Forbes. At first glance, you might think I'm all black, but if you turn me belly-up, you'll see that I wear a white bikini! I'm a little embarrassed about that - after all, I'm a neutered male cat, NOT a pinup girl. Another unique thing about me is my eyes - they're a rich amber color and quite fascinating, so I'm told." Forbes recently spent some time in a foster home and quickly became a full-fledged member of the household. He got along well with the family's small dog, loved being involved in household activity, and although having once been a stray, he showed no desire to go back outside. Foster mom says his habits are clean and that he's well-mannered and responsive. She did tell us that Forbes is not a "talker" and as a consequence, he accidentally got locked in a closet for an entire day and never once cried to get out! Adoptive family, take note! Forbes is one-year old, but still has plenty of kitten shenanigans left to amuse you. |

GeminiGemini's bio at the time of adoption: Domestic Shorthair, DOB: ~11/2000Female(sp) What a gem of a cat dear Gemini has become! Having had a terrible start in life, Gemini has recently discovered something that, until now, she’s only been able to watch others enjoy.….kittenhood! To go back a few steps, Gemini, with her brood of six, was found next to a dumpster. The “kids” were in a box, with Gemini standing guard outside the box protecting them with her life. She could have run off, but she didn't, even when approached by a stranger. Because there was no room at the PAWS Inn, Gemini’s rescuer cared for her and the kittens until they could come to the adoption center. Once at the Center, the kittens frolicked about as kittens do, but mom was too exhausted to move. Day after day, she lay in her litterbox looking sad, tired and probably resigned to having babies tug at her and depend upon her for the rest of her life. It’s anyone’s guess how many families this tiny 6-year old had raised. No time for Gemini to even dream of having fun herself. Before long, volunteers noticed that Gemini's tummy was becoming large and taut. Omigosh -- she can’t be with kitten again! Impossible. She wasn’t with kitten, and in fact, a thorough medical checkup found nothing wrong. Gem was just an extremely laid-back…or totally burned-out…mom with well-toned abs! Time to become a forever ex-mom! Shortly after her spay, however, it was discovered that Gemini had ulcers on both of her eyes! Is it any wonder she was reluctant to move about? We’ll never know how long she had this condition or what caused it (the ulcers are gone now), but as treatment progressed in a foster home….. WOW! There’s a really neat cat in there…..in fact there’s cat bent on reclaiming a lost kittenhood in there! Is this the same Gemini who put up a good imitation of a stuffed toy at the Center? Well, it’s Gemini, but not the same one we’d fretted over. Gemmi is now bright, playful, curious, gentle, sweet….and very anxious to start a new life. She has so much catching up to do that there’s little time to cuddle, but that will come. Goodbye motherhood – HELLO GEMINI! Since Gem probably never has experienced a real home (except for her short time in foster care), this is the next big step she hopes to take very, very soon. Miracles do happen – might you be Gemini’s next miracle-in-waiting? |

GingerGinger's bio at the time of adoption:Hi! I'm GINGER. I just returned from a two-month "vacation" at Wiscoy. I'd heard from Salome and Lorilee, former PAWS cats who met their adoptive families there, that Wiscoy is a fun place to hang out. And they were right! So many nice people came by and talked to me, but alas, no one wanted to adopt me. After awhile, I started gaining weight, so back to the center I came where, at least during the holiday break, I'm free to run around and get some exercise. Just prior to my Wiscoy visit, I was in two different foster homes, so there's a lot that is known about me that wasn't known a few months ago. When I came to PAWS, I was pretty scared and didn't know how gentle people could be....or if they could be gentle at all. (If you read my original story on the PAWS website, you may recall that my two sisters and I had been stuffed into a microwave oven box and abandoned....no note, no nothin' to explain why. Is it any wonder that I was scared silly?). But I know now that people CAN be gentle and kind, so now I love to be combed, petted, have my chin rubbed, and be told how sweet and beautiful I am. It just makes my day! I love to eat, but will have to pay close attention to my diet, at least for awhile. I'm fine with other cats who don't try to hassle me, but dogs are another story...TOO scary. My ideal home would be with a quiet couple or single person (children are still a bit overwhelming) where someone is home a lot to dote on me and shower me with the loving attention that I missed early in life. I also need to retain my claws and will let you help me keep them neatly trimmed. Just in case you have room for two cats, I must let you know that one of my sisters, Lillian, is still with PAWS. Hint, hint... We've been apart long enough that we could go to separate homes, but......we'd sure love to stay together! Application approved |

Grady and KeefeGrady and Keefe's bio at the time of adoption: Males-neutered, Domestic ShorthairsDOB: 09/19/04 Top: Grady Grady and Keefe are handsome and friendly guys, very much like Tulley and Finnegan (see above) in their demeanor. They are playful purr machines, open to other cats and love to be combed….which they need to be. Like Tulley and Finnegan, Grady and Keefe are a package deal -- they must go to the same forever home. If you’re a lover of big boys, you’ll have a real dilemma here…..which of the pairs to choose? Which to choose?? Oh dear! Either way, you can’t lose. You'll be the proud parent(s) of two great, tightly-bonded and happy cats. Show them off to your friends, and tell them you know where there’s another awesome, stereo-purring Pumpkin Pair….presuming they haven’t already been snatched from the patch. |

HappyHappy's bio at the time of adoption: Female-spayed, Domestic ShorthairDOB: 06/20/04 Happy is very petite for an adult cat. Her right eye is unique and a little cloudy, but she has had it checked and it appears to cause her no problems with vision. This feature makes her all the more endearing and lovable. She is a dear and affectionate little girl. This just in from her foster mom: Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy! That’s what you’ll get from me. I love to play, explore and just hang out with you. I may be little but I have a big heart to share. I would love to find my forever home and show you that good things come in small packages. If you’ve always wished that your new kitten would stay kitten-size, then I’m your wish come true. I’m really 2-years old, yes believe it, 2-years old. But don’t overlook me as a cat that may be “too old”. I still have a lot of kitten playfulness left in me. You could say I’m the best of both, kitten and adult. HobbesHobbes's bio at the time of adoption: Since becoming a PAWS cat, Hobbes has been fostered by one of PAWS’ long-time dog program volunteers. Can you tell? From foster mom, Lisa:Hobbes is a 9-10 mo. old neutered male Snowshoe (or Snowshoe mix) cat. He is lively, loving and energetic. He is social, vocal, chirpy and chatty….traits that his breed is known for. He absolutely loves to be with his people and will follow anyone around the house chirping and purring and rubbing on your legs. Hobbes does expect a good amount of attention, especially when you get home after some time away. He loves to jump in your lap and be held, but then his playful side takes over and he’s up and ready to go! Hobbes is litterbox and scratch post trained, using the alpine and hemp (from the doorknob) types. He is also CRATE TRAINED for easier trips to the vet! He knows the commands “up”, “over”, and how to do “figure 8’s” around your legs. We are working on “down” as well. So, you can tell that he is a very smart boy who will do anything for a treat or a pet! Due to his lively nature, I would not recommend that he be placed with very small children, as he has a tendency to knead his paws when being petted and will sometimes nibble on your fingertip (this is not a bite) when he feels especially loving. Hobbes is okay with dogs that do not chase (foster mom has 7!) and is fine with teenagers. It is unknown how he’d be with elementary school age kids. Due to being abandoned and quite underweight when rescued, Hobbes is an enthusiastic eater and is not in the least self-regulating, so careful weight management will be essential for his future health, no matter how pitifully he meows at you! Hobbes is a smart, loving, easy to train, lively boy. He has tons of personality to keep you entertained, and really just wants a forever home of his own so he can shower his family with all the love he has to give! KelaniKelani's bio at the time of adoption: Domestic shorthair, Female-spayedDOB: 11/24/03 Pretty Kelani was one of the lucky Center residents invited into a foster home during the holiday break. This just in from foster mom: Kelani is an amazing little cat. At two years of age, she is still kitten-frisky. She is a very self-confident little girl who is not the least bit afraid of new circumstances, new places, new people or other cats. She loves to explore and will not be satisfied until she has uncovered every nook and cranny of her home. She is very affectionate and loves to be cuddled, petted and loved. Kelani is quite the talker, too, and will greet her humans with a chirpy meow. Kelani will be your constant companion as you work at your computer or relax in front of the TV. And if you fall asleep, you may just find that you have a furry tuxedo curled up at your side. Most impressively, Kelani will come when you call her by name! (Note: She hasn’t had this name for very long). In a nutshell, Kelani will make a wonderful feline friend and companion who will give her human(s) plenty of attention and affection. (Sound like the cat for you? Come meet her this weekend)! |

KennibunkKennibunk's bio at the time of adoption: Male-neutered, ~DOB: 03/20/98Domestic Longhair/possible Maine Coon Cat “I’m Kennibunk, the resident hunk…at least that’s what they tell me! "My ancestors just might have hailed from Kennibunkport, Maine….one look and you know I have Maine Coon somewhere in my lineage. Exactly how I got here I can’t say. All I remember of the recent past is crawling into a house through an open basement window on a very cold night. The startled residents of the house called an outfit called “Animal Control” to get me out! I have no idea why they did that – all they’d have had to do was open the door and I’d have been gone.” Kennibunk is probably a lucky hunk that his temporary landlord didn’t do that. As it turned out, he was taken to a veterinary hospital where he was checked out, advertised as “lost” in the newspaper, and when no one responded, he ended up coming to PAWS. Kennibunk is a big pussycat at heart, a very gentle fellow who has no problem whatsoever with the other Center cats. But he still has a hankering to see what’s on the other side of that front door! Although he’s made good progress adjusting to life inside, Kenni tells us he’d be happiest in a home where he has some opportunity to safely go outside….we can’t emphasize “safely” enough, as well as the need to closely guard the door until he is thoroughly familiar with and comfortable with his new family. We wouldn’t want to see him in the arms of “Animal Control” again! To view Kennibunk enjoying the sunshine, please click for larger photo |

LillianLillian's bio at the time of adoption:I’m Lillian, the last of three lovely sisters who came to PAWS under circumstances that were the cruelest of cruel. At 3 years of age, undernourished, never spayed, we were stuffed into a microwave oven box, secured with duct tape, and unceremoniously dumped. We were scared silly and fortunate to be found before the box popped open and we ran for our lives. Fiona survived this ordeal better than Ginger or me and was adopted quickly. It was a long while before Ginger and I could even begin to trust humans again, so we’ve been stuck at PAWS for what seems like forever. Just recently, Ginger went home with a wonderful couple who worships the ground she walks on (she even has her own webpage now…see Happy Endings 2006)! I’m delighted for her, but that leaves ME….all alone and still a “shelter cat.” I’m 4 years old now, and if there’s any status to be had in being PAWS’ longest resident, it’s that I’m now sole chair of the Lonely Hearts Club! This is an honor and I appreciate having it bestowed upon me, but…..I’d really like to get out of here! Fortunately, I’m now in a foster home during the week, getting a taste of what it might be like to live in a real home again. I’ve shed my cocoon and am ready to fly, but I still need the reinforcement of a home of my own and a family to love me. Keep watching this page for more about me from my foster mom. She promised me she’d write. Better yet, come to the Center and ask to meet me. You can’t imagine how great it'd feel to have someone come in and ask especially for me. --Lillian |

"Oh, it's just Ebony...he's okay....but the rest of these black ones have to go! Better yet if I could go...I really don't like it here." Pretty Lowka is a calm and sweet cat. But having been bullied by a black cat in her previous home, she's scared to death of them....all but laid back Ebony with whom she'll quietly share space in the PAWS office. At times, Lowka allows herself to be intimidated by non-black cats as well, so she'd probably be most comfortable as an only cat and in a home without children. Lowka came to us a pretty stressed-out kitty, but now she's ready to give love and get love in a quiet adult environment. Come meet this beautiful girl...she needs YOU. MelKatMelKat's bio at the time of adoption: Male-neutered, Domestic shorthairDOB: ~02/22/04 "MelKat" is short for my real name, which is Martin Luther Kat! Wait 'til you see the completely symmetrical swirl tabby markings from my head to the tip of my tail....which is a very LONG distance! I like to supervise all the activity at the center. You can see this if you click for the larger image. I even talk to the volunteers while I observe. I've come a long way as you will discover after reading my story. I can’t tell you when, why or how it happened, but one dreadful day, I was left to fend for myself in the middle of downtown State College. People, cars, noise all around and at all times of the day and night.... VERY scary stuff! After trying to join a group of other freewheeling felines (I didn’t fare well – they beat me up), I started hanging around the Grace Lutheran Church. I knew I was living dangerously with all the traffic there, but I figured there must be good people at the church who could help me. At the same time every night for several weeks, I'd sneak from bush to bush, run belly to the ground around the building, and stand with my nose pressed up to the door of the youth center. I really wanted to go inside and I know they wanted to give me refuge, but when someone came near the door, I'd panic and reverse course. Thinking I might be the lost cat whose picture was posted around town, the pastor finally called PAWS. I wasn’t that lost cat, but I definitely was a lost and lonely soul and I very definitely was in great peril living as I was. Can’t say much for the trap I was lured into, nor was I terribly impressed with some of the things that happened to me during the first few days after my “rescue”. But life gradually got better and better and I’m truly thankful to all the people who cared enough to save a hungry, scared, scraggly stray about whom they knew absolutely nothing. And I’m especially grateful to my foster dad, who opened his heart and his home to me and continues to spend so much time helping me learn to trust humans. |

Miss KittyMiss Kitty's bio at the time of adoption:Unlike Miss Kitty of the long-running hit TV show "Gunsmoke", our Miss Kitty doesn't operate a saloon. But for awhile, she ran a pretty doggone popular milk bar! With five kids of her own and her adopted kid, Pooter, Kitty's bar was open 24 hrs. a day. Kitty was "with kitten" when she was found on a back porch in Boalsburg. There was no room at the PAWS Inn and no foster home available, so all we could offer the rescuer was a huge dog crate as a birthing place. "Oh no," said volunteer Donna. "No cat is giving birth in a dog crate, outside, on a porch. She's coming with us….we still have one vacant room and it's hers. What's one more?" You see, Donna and husband Jim had just rescued over 100 abandoned cats and were providing shelter to most of them in their home and garage. So off went Miss Kitty and the "one more" soon became one plus 5 healthy babies. As Donna and Jim were so generous to Kitty, so was she when, in her second foster home, motherless "Pooter" showed up. Kitty graciously took Pooter under paw. "Hey, what's one more?" Miss Kitty is about 2-1/2 years old…a petite ticked tabby who is extremely affectionate with people and quite comfortable around other cats so long as they don't mess with her. Her disposition is laid back….with one small exception. Kitty does NOT appreciate having humans poke around at her…as in…being checked by a vet, given a shot or, heaven forbid, being given a pill, the latter proof positive that those stories circulating the Internet about "How to Pill a Cat" are not the figment of someone's overactive imagination. But she had all that stuff done to her at once and will probably get over it. If not, what's a little poke/pill phobia when otherwise, Kitty is sweet, loving, playful, neat with her litter, and faithfully uses a slanted scratcher. Kitty's a good, dear girl deserving of a loving, lifetime home. Come to the Center and meet her. |

MoniqueMonique's bio at the time of adoption: Female-spayed, Domestic Medium Hair~ 5 years old Si vous aimez les blondes, la magnifique Monique est votre fille! Indeed, Monique is a gorgeous, 4-yr. old strawberry blond, which makes her unique dans le monde des chats. If you think about it, most blond or red tabby chats that you know are males, right? Blond or red female chats are rare indeed. Monique was unique as a Mum as well. She took care of little ones galore…her own, as well as a number of tiny orphans who would not have survived without her acceptance and tender, loving care. But Monique is now ready for someone to take good care of her. She is very sweet and affectionate, announcing her presence and answering your queries with chirps. When she really wants your attention, she’ll give you a high five…one paw or two paws! This girl will be a gentle and loving companion. |

Ms. KissesMs. Kisses's bio at the time of adoption: Domestic shorthair, Female(sp), front-declawedDOB: 09/05/92 "With age comes wisdom, and I am wise enough to know that most people don't want to adopt a senior cat. But I'm hopeful that someone can look past my chronological age and see that I am a kitten at heart." Indeed, "old" Ms. Kisses has been seen rolling around on the floor playing with a catnip toy. Kisses is mature, but not boring! Where did her name come from? When she came to PAWS, she needed a good grooming -- you know how most cats like that! Ms. Kisses, we're told, kissed EVERYBODY in the vet's office, including the groomer...during the grooming. Thus her name. This gal is a real sweetheart! Aside from having a bit of "middle-aged spread" (she's on a weight control diet), Ms. Kisses is healthy and hopes to have many good years ahead. Read on for excerpts from foster mom's reports! |

P. MorganP. Morgan's bio at the time of adoption: Domestic Longhair, Neutered Male9 years of age P. Morgan is a big handsome armful of love (actually he's two armsful of love!) and he's waiting to give it just to you. From foster mom: The old adage “with age comes wisdom” (mom stole this line from Ms. Kisses, but that’s okay!) certainly holds true with this lovable gentleman. P. Morgan is wise beyond his years, and his golden eyes portray emotions you might not have thought possible for a cat. He will snuggle up next to you after a tough day, keep your feet warm on a cold night, and have extended conversations with you where it really seems like he understands what you’re saying. As loving as P. Morgan is, he has a tough time showing his true colors at the adoption center. His sensitive nature makes it difficult for him to be comfortable with all the noise and commotion. In his foster home, P. Morgan chases toys and is very much at home. He seems to do better when he has company and would do well with another kind and calm animal in the house. Are you the love match P. Morgan has been waiting for? Arm yourself with catnip and a brush, and he’ll win your heart in no time flat! To see the rest of the story of P. Morgan's photo, click for larger photo. You'll see this gentle and loving big boy keeping little kitten, "Shadow", company in his cat bed while sharing his space on adoption days at the center. |

PussPuss's bio at the time of adoption: Female(sp), Domestic short/medium hair, DOB: 02/08/05The girls just had to get into this Pumpkin Patch and since calicos are females and have a touch of pumpkin orange, Puss has found a way!. Puss is a very pretty girl who is a bit shy. Please take the time to meet her at the center....even if she's peeking out from under her blankie at the time. She's a sweetie and will be super when she blossoms-perhaps with your help. Update: 7-20-06 Puss was in a foster home for about 10 days, fostered as a possible companion for former PAWS cat Ginger. Unfortunately, Ginger, who has come to enjoy her status as Queen Bee, didn't take kindly to this intruder. And to everyone's surprise, Puss shed her shy, reclusive demeanor in a matter of days, ignoring Ginger's hisses and beginning to make an earnest bid for the throne. Puss is now back at the Center, but this is what foster mom had to say about her: "I found Miss Puss to be a very affectionate and cuddly cat..... a regular little purring machine. She'll sit on your lap, loves to have her tummy rubbed, and especially likes to stretch out long on her back and be scratched under her chin. It took a while to get her from We're all sorry that things didn't work out between Puss and Ginger, but at least this has given us a glimpse of the "real Miss Puss" that we can now pass along to potential adopters. The Flower Girls-Tulip, Violet, DaffodilThe Flower Girls-Tulip, Violet, Daffodil's bio at the time of adoption: Females, Domestic shorthairs, DOB: 03/18/06These 3 little girls are just one of the groups available for adoption this spring. They're cute as buttons and have sweet personalities too. Violet, the mostly black kitten, is far from a shrinking Violet and is quite an adventurous little girl when they are out playing in the center. Tulip, the black and white one, and Daffodil, the little calico, and she play happily and seem like contented little girls. |

WilsonWilson's bio at the time of adoption: Domestic shorthair, Male(n)DOB: 11/25/04 (Click for larger photo to see this beautiful cat in relax mode) From Wilson’s holiday foster mom: Wilson is the sweetest cat in the world! He craves human affection and will do just about anything to get it, including body rubbing, head butting, licking, meowing, begging like a dog, and the very rare insistent screaming that can be heard through closed doors on a different floor! (Part Siamese?) Wilson makes himself at home wherever he is and with whomever is there. He has no fear of exploring new surroundings, strolling from object to object with his tail proudly waving in the air. When he finds a good spot, he drapes himself over whatever is there—be it a piece of furniture or a person—and melts into total relaxation. His purr ranges from barely audible to lawn mower-strength depending on how long someone is willing to be his pillow. Wilson is not finicky about his food, but watching him drink is a sight to behold! He delicately dips his paw into his water bowl dozens of times, licking every drop from between his toes after each dip. Eventually he switches to traditional drinking (why?), but he barely dips his tongue into the water. He has no bathroom issues, even when adjusting to new locations, but he is not exceptionally neat and should probably have a covered litterbox….or one with an open “lid”. Wilson has lustrous black fur with nearly invisible spots of white scattered throughout. His golden eyes miss nothing, and in the dark they glow from within. When he stretches out to full length, his lanky body and limbs seem to go on forever. Wilson’s lack of concern about what others think (he’s a cat, right?) means that he has no interest in submitting to other animals. Since he views them merely as an obstacle in his path, Wilson would make a fabulous only pet…I would recommend that he not go to a home with other pets. DJ. WinterWinter's bio at the time of adoption: Male-neutered, Domestic ShorthairDOB: 09/05/04 Who best to tell us about any cat but his foster mom! Winter's adoring foster mom tells us this: Are you ready for Winter? Found in a local storm drain, this 2 year-old white and charcoal snuggle-boy has survived the slings and arrows of Mother Nature without a hat or mittens! Don’t let his name fool you! Winter is anything but cold. He loves to play with ping pong balls and plastic Easter eggs, despite having decreased vision in his right eye due to a cataract. At night, Winter strongly prefers to snuggle close to his human companion and loves to be hugged and kissed! During the day, this delightful boy enjoys watching birds, chipmunks and squirrels, all from the safety and comfort of a windowsill or cat tree. Winter is already neutered and has been trained to use both vertical and horizontal scratching posts! So, when you think about preparing for the upcoming season, please mark “love” at the top of your Winter list and welcome this extraordinary cat into your home! (To see how sweet he is in his foster mom's arms, click for larger photo). |
