Board of Directors Nominees and Elections

Elections for the PAWS Board of Directors were held at the May 31, 2009 Annual Meeting. There were four nominees for open positions on the Board of Directors this year, and all four nominees were elected. Congratulations and thank you to Sabrina, Cathy, Cristin, and Joan for being willing to serve on the PAWS Board!

Sabrina Chapman

Sabrina has been a member of the PAWS Board of Directors since 2008 and is a highly active PAWS volunteer. Sabrina is the PAWS Front Desk Coordinator and a member of the PAWS Cat Team, and serves as the Cat Team representative to the Board. She is retired from Penn State University, having served as Director of the Center for Women Students and Head of Women's Studies.

Cathy Kassab

Cathy has been a member of the PAWS Board of Directors since 2002 and is currently the PAWS Treasurer. Cathy is also co-chair of the PAWS Pet Extravaganza Committee, co-chair of the PAWS Educational Outreach & Awareness Committee, and she previously served as the PAWS Dog Program Coordinator for 6 years. Cathy is a principal and owner of By The Numbers, a State College-based consulting firm.

Cristin Long

Cristin Long is an attorney and partner with the McQuaide Blasko law firm. There are currently no attorneys on the PAWS Board of Directors, and the Nominating Committee believes that this is an area where the Board needs expertise. Cristin will bring her significant legal knowledge and experience, and her love of animals, to the Board. Cristin is the adopter of two PAWS dogs.

Joan Ritchie

Dr. Joan Ritchie is a veterinarian and owner of J. Ritchie Veterinary Hospital in State College. There are currently no veterinarians on the PAWS Board of Directors, and the Nominating Committee believes that this is an area where the Board also needs expertise. Joan is a long-time supporter of PAWS, and she will bring her significant veterinary knowledge and experience, and her passion about animals, to the Board.
